Have there been any TSBs about braking or brake pedal feel? My 08 brake pedal travels way further than my 05 ever did. Very disconcerting.

Dealer said they have received many comments about it but it is working as planned. Any ideas?
Found this link at the Edmunds Odyssey site. It is a 2007 TSB that has been expanded to include all 2008 Odyssey's. It appears that air is entering the brake system through the ABS/TCS or VSA modulator-control unit.

Brake Pedal Is Low and Feels Soft
(Supersedes 07-045, dated October 25, 2007, to revise the information marked by the black bars)

operation number and flat rate time for manually
bleeding the brakes were added.
SYMPTOM
When you apply the brakes, the brake pedal travels
lower and feels softer than normal.
PROBABLE CAUSE
The ABS/TCS or VSA modulator-control unit has

Just came back from the dealer and the brakes work amazingly well now. In fact the pedal is touchy since I was used to pushing the thing about 6-8 inches it seemed.
I am very happy to have this remedied.
If you have an 07 or 08, go get this done! You will be very happy!!
:D

Thanks, NDNV!! I had noticed the airbag gap, but thought it was "normal." I will get this TSB done along with the soft brakes.

I love this site...

I had the dealer take a look at the air bag gap. They told me that their service manager had to look at it, and he was gone for the day. Now I have to go back again...

knocking and rolling

Oh yea... I have had Honda look & listen to my knocking twice already. They said I used cheapo gas (I use prem.) Then they said use the lower octane, still no solution. Then it was my choice of station... hmmm sound familier?
Now I will walk in with this TSB and get the s_it fixed already.
And by the way, for those who saw my posts last year. I was the guy with the '07 whose wife had the brake failiure... resulting in an accident which caused 7k damage, which Honda denied any liability.
Well, the National Highway Safety fianlly called me back 1 1/2 years later...vindication! The ABS modulator in question in the TSB from March proves they knew of a problem. According to NHSA, I was the first of four accidents due to brake FAILIURE.
If you have an 05 thru 08, go get your ABS modulator checked out and replaced if it is the bad part number. If the brakes would have failed 2 minutes earlier, I could have lost my wife and two young daughters on an interstate highway.

But all in all, I still love the '08 I have now.

TSB 08-017: Engine Knocks or Ticks at Idle
(Supersedes 08-017, dated April 2, 2008, to update the information marked by the black bar)
Applies To: 2008 Odyssey EX-L/Touring: From VIN 5FNRL38..8B000001 thru 5FNRL38..8B019499
From VIN 5FNRL38..8B400001 thru 5FNRL38..8B403623

I am pretty sure I have the engine knocking sound at idle. It sounds like the noise in the video. My VIN is in the range noted. I'll have the wife set up an appointment this week. Anyone else have this issue?
Dealership stated they could not duplicate the noise in the TSB. So, I'll keep my ears open and see if it gets worse over time. At least it is documented for future reference and no need to open up the engine just yet.

Knock Knock

I took my van back in on SVC Bul 08-071, hoping my accelerating pings would be cured. I use good quality gas from Shell, Texaco and Chevron, and I do use Premium. Honda finally acknowledged they could here it. But to no avail, a week after replacing the ping sensor, the knocks have returned. I'm bringing her in for a third attempt to fix it tomorrow. Let's see what happens... Any others with this problem?

Just got the product update done tonight. I've only driven the Ody back from the dealership so far, but it appears that things are better. There seems to be very little vibration at light throttle in high gear now vs. beforehand.

Time will tell if this product update will keep things good and save the torque converter long term.

Great info...THANKS!!!

New Dad New Van:

A million thanks for the TSB's for my 2008 Ody. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow for a whiny power steering pump and wind/rattle noise from the front windows...both of which there are TSB's for!

I will pull them out and show them when they say... "We are not aware of any problems like you describe."

GOTCHA!!!

Thanks again.

I just used those two exact ones today for my 08 touring! great stuff.

Does anyone know which models or years this TSB covers? It only states “Applies to: ALL.”
ALL means just that.....every Honda model and every year.
