2014 Odyssey TE navigation-no keyboard entry?

Hi All
First I want to say that this forums and postings have been helpful in the recent purchase of the 2014 TE. I always go to the most knowledgeable place, which seem to be the forums, when purchasing a car now.

unfortunately, I let my wife do the test drives for the minivans we were comparing (I only drive it on family outings or trips). I didn't get a chance to mess around with the nav system. I was unaware that the Odyssey has only scroll wheel or voice data entry, both laborious, as opposed to keyboard entry on the touch screen when entering destinations. I wrongly assumed that the keyboard was available like I have seen in other Honda Gen 1 my link vehicles such as the accord or the 2014 Acura MDX, which I test drove.

I guess I am looking for verification that this lack of a keyboard is the case and not some software glitch. I also wonder why the ability to send an address is not available, Like in the Acura. I suppose it may be with an update. I guess that may include SIRI eyes free too.

I generally like the vehicle, but the little things like the data entry, lack of posted speed limit on the nav, lack of compass (or at least I can't get one to work) and the TPMS problem with snow tires are a little frustrating in a $40000 car.

Correct, no keyboard, and what's worse, you have to be at a stop to enter destinations unless you use the horrible voice activated option while driving. Bottom line, its a Honda not an Acura, so they always get the little added features to up sell you to the "premium" brand.

It's terrible marketing and worse engineering, like going from a touch phone back to a dial phone. My 2007 Ody was FAR easier to program via keypad, (and in motion -- have the feds never heard of front passengers?). As far as premium up-sell, please show me the ACURA equivalent of the Ody. Nonexistant.
