No sound coming from speakers or wireless headsets

Honda Odyssey - 2002: I was driving and smelled something burning in my dashboard. Now there is no sound coming from the speakers or the wireless headsets. Everything powers up just fine, you can still watch a movie, change radio stations, etc. Just no audio. I checked multiple fuses - looks fine. Disconnected the radio - got all the coins out that have been in it for years (via the cassette deck), still no sound. Disconnected each speaker one at a time (thinking maybe one faulty speaker was to blame), still nothing. Is is just the radio itself that might of shorted out? Any other ideas?

Just posting to say that we are having the exact same problem here, with our '02 Odyssey. (Same burning smell, same sudden loss of all speakers, same otherwise functioning main stereo unit.) Have you had any success in addressing the issue?

I'm hoping that others might see this and chime in with some ideas about what might cause this and/or how it might be addressed!

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Check all the fuses and check for a faulty radio unit as a result of the coins shorting it.

Oh, and to add to the discussion:
We took it in to the dealer for regular maintenance and had them also look at the radio. They charged us a $43 diagnostic fee for checking it, but said that they have no idea what is wrong with it and no idea how to fix it. We picked the van up after hours last night and the technician was not there to speak to, so at this point we have no idea what they actually "checked"/tried. We're planning to call back today to find out whether they investigated fuses as a possibility.

Very frustrating when even the Honda dealer seems unwilling to help.

Given that I drive everyday with three small children, it sure would be nice to be able to get some kind of sound!!! :(

Thanks for your responses, especially that there's 2 of us w/ the same problem. All my fuses are fine. I took the radio out and opened it. You can see black soot on the circuit board behind the volume knob. Does that mean my only option is to replace the radio or would cleaning it with a can of air work? Or is there specific damage I should look for? I can't seem to find any diagrams that show the inner workings of this radio.

If you guys had burning smell, something is toast in the stereo. There are no fuses just for the speakers. If you blew a fuse, the radio would not work at all. I am afraid both of you need to look for new radios which is going to be tough if you have RES as you are pretty much stuck with the factory radio for RES operation.

It is quite difficult to find a replacement RES capable radio online @ salvage yards and due to them bing rare, they are quite expensive. So, the tough part is finding the unit and the price of it. Once you locate a replacement, the repair is very easy. Open the front panel (instructions are on here with pix), remove 4 screws holding the unit to the dash, slide out the unit, disconnect the plugs from the back, connect the plugs to the new one, slide it in, secure it with screws and put back the front panel and all done !!!

If I am not mistaken, the radio has a code so if you buy used, remember to get the code from the seller as local dealers might give you grief if you ask for the code based on the serial number if you do not have an invoice to accompany your replacement radio.
